Even though Halloween is over and most people have already switched to Christmas mode, I thought I would share what I got up to this spooky season. Each year I like to try at least a few new makeup looks and costumes because what better way to spend your free time than transforming into something cool and creepy for a day??
1. Creepy Pumpkin
Are you even a basic pumpkin bitch if you don’t do some sort of creepy skull or pumpkin makeup look to post on the gram?? I created this look using orange shadows from the NYX Ultimate palette and warm tones and black shadows from the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill palette, and a glittery orange shade from the ColourPop Golden State of Mind palette. For the mouth, I used Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in shade Weirdo, as well as Tarte Tarteist gel eyeliner in black and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in shade Trooper.
2. Mad Hatter
Alice in Wonderland is my favourite fairy-tale, and I’m obsessed with everything from the original Carroll Lewis books to the Tim Burton movies. It’s so twisted and creepy but yet so childlike and full of imagination at the same time. So naturally, I had to do something related to it for Halloween this year. A few years ago I was part of an Alice in Wonderland group costume and I went as the White Queen, but I was excited to try out another character that required a little more creativity.
I created this look using shades from the NYX Ultimate palette and the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill palette for the eyeshadow, eyebrows, and contour. I used a white pencil eyeliner and white mascara to create the wide eye effect, and I think that is one of the things that made the look so good. Lastly, I created the whiteish skin colour using a super cheap and terrible quality white face makeup from Spirit Halloween that I would not recommend to my worst enemy.
3. Fortune Teller
Over the past year especially, I’ve had a weird obsession with fortune tellers, psychics, and all things witchy. I think things like palm reading, tarot cards, psychic mediumship, etc. are so fascinating. I’m not entirely sure whether I believe in all of it, but I definitely think it’s intriguing and that there’s some truth to some of it. So I was really excited to dress up as a fortune teller for one of the nights I went out for Halloween this past weekend. For the eyes, I used the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill palette along with the ColourPop Golden State of Mind palette. For the glitter under the eyes I just used glitter from the dollar star and Too Faced glitter glue. On the lips I used JSC Velour Liquid Lipstick in shade Weirdo. And the contacts are photoshopped bc I do Halloween on a budget and coloured contacts are expensive. Sue me.
This one was kind of last minute because my friends and I decided to dress up once more on actual Halloween day, and the first thing that came to my mind was to go as a unicorn because I seem to have been going with the theme of curiosity and magic this Halloween, and I had all the hair and makeup supplies I would need. I created this look using Eyeshadows from the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions palette, the NYX Ultimate palette, and the ColourPop Golden State of Mind palette. For highlighting I used the ABH Moonchild Glow Kit along with some more dollar store glitter. In my hair I used Schwarzkopf BlondMe Instant Blush Spray in shades Strawberry and Steel Blue.
That wraps up another Halloween season! It’s been another great one, but if I’m being honest, after a full week of dressing up and going out, I’m so ready for the Christmas season! And since I’m moving home to Saskatchewan in one week, I basically have to say goodbye to fall this week because it will be a full on winter wonderland when I get home.
**An honourable mention is in order for the group costume that my friends and I did for our staff Halloween party – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This was the comfiest costume of life and it was so easy and cute!
I hope everyone has had a Merry Spooky Season and a Happy Halloween!!
